Assessment of Accessible Inclusive Hike to Bishnudwar and Danda gaun - 2025

On 18th April, 2025, Executives of Chain For Change Mr. Abhishek Shahi and Ms. Deepika Shahi along with Mr. Miquel Cañada Molino, Mr. Alfonso Xosé González Cabarcos, four Spanish students from Consorcio EWE, and Mr. Rajesh Bhandari – Executive Director of Access Nepal Tour went to Bishnudwar and Danda gaun to assess the accessibility of the route for conducting inclusive hiking for individuals with visual disabilities.

The group started to hike from Shivapuri National Park, Budhanilkantha Check Post to Bhagdwar where a beautiful waterfall can be seen. The special part about Bhagdwar is that it resembles as if water is falling from a tiger face stone spout from which holy river Bagmati originates.

During the hiking route, they applied different guiding techniques to support persons with visual disabilities like using ropes, trekking sticks, white canes and corporal support. They walked and climb rocks and hills on the way and seek for possibilities to bring children with visual disabilities in this path.

On the way, the team found few setbacks which made them consider to choose other easier alternatives trail for hiking. First, there was a landslide in between a course, which was risky to take children with visual disabilities. Second, climbing rocks to Bhagdwar is quite challenging for younger and unexperienced children with visual disabilities. The third and final reason was that the waterfall at Bhagdwar dried up. Thus, the hiking got concluded reaching to Danda gaun.
