On 30th April, 2025, Mr. Miquel Cañada Molino - who visited Nepal as an exchange staff from Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain and is working as Laboratory Technician in Digital Manufacturing, at UPV worked with Secretary of CFC, Ms. Deepika Shahi to develop a very first Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Braille Printer of Nepal.

This idea was first proposed by our Intern Design Instructor (2024/25), Ms. Gala Cervera Meroño but, due to lack of spare parts in Nepal we could not built it. Later, Mr. Miquel took over this project and build an identical version in his lab at UPV. Upon his visit to Nepal, he brought some of the missing parts and screws that were required to build the braille machine. Some of the pieces were laser cut, some of them were 3D printed and rest were few screws, wires and other machine components.

Mr. Miquel guided Ms. Deepika to build it from the scratch. He explained the significance of each parts and component, its placement along with its function in the printer. It took around a week to build it and test its efficiency.

On 30th April, 2025, Mr. Abhishek Shahi – The Founder & President of Chain For Change made the very first printing using his laptop with his screen reader software. The Braille printer could not just print in stander paper to write in braille but, could also print in plastic sheets. However, few more adjustments is require to make the braille dots very refine and clear.
